Snuff Box SB.1.2: Snuff Box Container / Snuff box. Kenya. Small oblong container, made from an animal horn covered with skin and provided with a brass clasp with long neck. The lower end of the container has a sort of brass-plated button inlaid with copper. The container also has a side handle covered with brass wire. A necklace of blue glass beads and brass beads is hung at both ends. Containers of this type, commonly called “snuff boxes” were of course often prestigious objects which could contain snuff, but also other substances such as gunpowder or medicinal herbs.
