Snuff Box SB.1.163: Snuff Box Container / Snuffbox. Kenya. No 7. XI.V.3. Small portable brown container, with swollen belly wrapped in leather and ending in a lamp base. A button on the bottom of the container is lined with copper wire. The leather sheath is flanked by two iron bailers through which a chain, also made of iron, has passed. A beige cap, made of animal horn (or ivory?) Is wedged into the neck of the container using a piece of cloth. Base object. Containers of this type, commonly called “snuff boxes” were very often hunting trophies or prestigious objects that could contain snuff, but also other substances such as gunpowder or medicinal herbs.
